Tet 2012

  1/23/2012

Introduction about Tet here
If there's any one thing that don't ever change in this world, it's the joy of Tet.

When everything screams out "tradition",
When everyone is exhausted with a smile on the face,
When love is shared and sorrow is let go of,
When happiness comes back to its purest form.

Thanks for all your support in 2011. The new year is gonna be awesome, that's for sure!

Chúc mừng năm mới!

Bun thit nuong

Bún thịt nướng - Rice vermicelli with grilled pork and "tuong" sauce
So they say first love is always perfect, and we tend to compare everyone to our first love.

That happens to be particularly true with my love story with bun thit nuong. Once upon a time when I was very small, when a bowl of noodle just cost 3000VND (yes it was that long ago), I used to live in a small house on a food paradise. Every summer there was this lady selling bun thit nuong on the pavement just 50m away from my house. She made perfect marinated grilled pork and "tuong sauce", so impressive that even now I can still remember its taste and flavour in my mouth. Pork grilled over hot charcoal gave off amazing and irresistible scent all over the neighbourhood. So I would ask my mom for money and eat there every afternoon. I think that was when the notion of the dish really got into my mind. But, of course, first love doesn't end well most of the time. The lady was there for only three summers and then gone with the wind, leaving little me heart-broken.
